Meet the Team

We are a team of top qualified professionals with long experience with research-based development of advanced model-based control systems, simulators and cloud-based software.

Team Members

Haavard Holta
Partner and main contact

Responsibilities:
Haavard leads research, modelling and data analytics activities within power production and market. He will facilitate the use of dynamic physical models to research grid stability, maintenance and operation of hydropower. Further using real-time models for improving controller design.

Prior experience:
Haavard holds a PhD in Control Engineering. He has extensive experience from the hydro power industry. As a power market analyst at THEMA he was involved in several projects covering mathematical modelling and optimization. This includes optimal dispatch modelling of the Norwegian hydropower system and the development of optimization models for maintenance planning of hydropower plants as well as forcast models.

Ole Magnus Brastein
Partner

Responsibilities
Ole Magnus leads the development of data-driven modelling and optimisation research and development activities in the work package “Surrogate model estimator” and contribute to development of the simulation framework for the “Digital-twin based testing”.

Prior experience
Ole holds a PhD in Parameter Estimation and Machine Learning. He has an Industrial R&D background since 2004 in numerous projects, from hardware/instrumentation to software engineering and embedded systems. Further ha has a wide scope of interests, from software design and development, machine learning, artificial intelligence, estimation algorithms, and the creative R&D process. Ole Magnus has an extensive network in both industry and academia.

Glenn-Ole Kaasa
CEO

Responsibilities
Glenn-Ole leads the development of model-based control. That is to facilitate real-time models for optimizing coordinated control of hydro power. Furthermore he will serve as project coordinator.

Prior experience
Glenn-Ole holds a PhD in Control Engineering. Prior to Kelda Dynamics Glenn-Ole worked at Statoil Research Centre, as Head of department of Intelligent Drilling. In this period he also held an Adjunct Professorship at NTNU in adaptive control theory. From 2013 he has been CEO of Kelda Dynamics, developing software systems for pressure control in drilling. His research interests include mathematical modelling, system dynamics and applied nonlinear control and estimation.

Geir Arne Evjen
Partner

Responsibilities
Geir Arne leads the development of system architecture and cloud services, and the development of models for the “Dynamic physical models”. He will also organise the day-to-day development activities.

Prior experience
Geir Arne has a MSc in Chemical Engineering. Prior to Kelda Dynamics he had a position as principal researcher in Statoil R&D and has a background in process modelling, multiphase flow, fluids and flow-assurance. He has been system architect in several R&D projects on advanced software for estimation and data reconciliation and is an expert in thermodynamics, optimization, data communication, and programming.

Pål Jacob Nessjøen
Partner

Responsibilities
Pål leads the technical strategy for the project, ensuring end-user requirements are identified and met and all technical deliverables meet quality standards.

Prior experience
Pål holds a MSc in Engineering Cybernetics. Prior to Kelda Dynamics he was 8 years at National Oilwell Varco, from service engineer to senior advisor in corporate R&D. His focus is on system integration, deployment, and operation of our real time products.

Martha Acosta
Lead R&D Engineer

Responsibilities
Martha leads our R&D efforts with a focus on advancing frequency control for hydropower plants, integrating energy storage systems, optimizing power converters, and enhancing grid stability. Her main goal is to ensure our solutions contribute to a more resilient and efficient power system.

Prior Experience
Martha holds a PhD in Intelligent Frequency Control of Power Systems, equipping her with deep expertise in dynamic power system regulation. Before joining Kelda Kraft, she worked as a Power Grid System Engineer at Yara, where she has experience in conducting electrical studies, supported projects in electrical equipment specification and procurement, and ensured compliance with industry standards. She also designed electrical grids for R&D initiatives, focusing on integrating renewable energy sources and power converter technologies for large-scale hydrogen production.
